1. Device Behavior & Homes • Settings → Device Behavior
Device Behavior Settings, Guest Privacy Toggles & Onboarding
All options under Settings → Device Behavior are saved strictly on the current physical device:
• Keep Screen Always On: Prevents system auto-lock while DashKit is active in the foreground (defaults to ON for Wall/Desk Kiosk iPads, and OFF for Personal Controllers to save battery).
• Doorbell Camera Preview: Automatically presents the live camera feed fullscreen when a physical HomeKit doorbell chimes.
• Barcode Scanner Camera (FRONT | BACK): Defaults to FRONT on iPad for wall/stand mounting and BACK on iPhone for handheld scanning.
• Hide Settings Button: Hides the bottom-right Settings button during normal operation for a cleaner kiosk bar.
• Guest Mode Enforcement & Automatic Guest Privacy: Toggle Apply Guest Mode on This Device (ON on wall kiosks, OFF on personal iPhone) and configure automatic guest privacy rules (Hide Personal Calendars, Hide Personal Reminders, Restrict Music Library Browsing).
• Re-Run Onboarding Guide: Launches the 4-step guided setup wizard at any time.

1. Device Behavior & Homes • Settings → HomeKit Homes
Switching Between Multiple HomeKit Homes
If your Apple ID has more than one HomeKit home, switch between them anytime from the top quick-switcher capsule in the Pre-Settings Menu or under Settings → HomeKit Homes (which displays live accessory counts, room counts, and HomeKit Hub status). Switching homes is strictly local to the current device and never alters the active home on other household devices.

2. Gestures & Accessories • Lighting Control
Controlling Lights: Short Tap vs. 0.5s Hold-and-Slide Dimmer
• Short Tap: Toggles the light or light group ON/OFF. DashKit remembers your last active brightness percentage so turning a light back ON restores its exact previous dimming level instead of forcing 100%.
• 0.5s Hold & Slide (120FPS Finger-Anchored Scrubber): Press and hold any lighting card for 0.5s until haptic feedback fires, then slide your finger vertically up or down without lifting it to dim smoothly.
• Floating CW & RGB Swatches: Adjustable-white bulbs display 1 vertical column of 7 warmth presets (2200K warm to 6500K cool); RGB bulbs display 2 columns (7 white temperatures + 7 RGB colors).
• Brightness Fill Direction: Standard square and tall cards fill vertically from bottom to top; compact 2x1 half-height lighting cards fill horizontally from left to right.

2. Gestures & Accessories • Locks, Gates, Shutters & Motorized Windows
Operating Locks, Gates, Garage Doors & Rolling Shutters
• Inverted Safety Colors: Security barriers show an illuminated light card with emerald green text when LOCKED / CLOSED, and a dark card with crimson red text when UNLOCKED / OPEN.
• When Locked / Closed: A Short Tap opens a confirmation popup with an Unlock/Open button. A 0.5s Long-Press directly unlocks or opens the barrier immediately with zero confirmation dialog and zero PIN.
• When Unlocked / Open: Either a short tap or long-press immediately locks or closes the barrier.
• In-Flight Shutter Reversal & Tilt: Tapping a motorized rolling shutter while it is actively OPENING or CLOSING immediately reverses direction. Motorized windows and shutters also support position percentages and tilt angles inside their popup.

3. Edit Mode & Grid • Home & Custom Sections
Moving, Resizing, Stacking 2x1 Cards & Leaving Empty Spaces
Open the Pre-Settings Menu and select EDIT DASHBOARDS:
• 2D Free Coordinate Placement: Long-press and drag any card to any dashed empty slot—you can leave intentional empty spaces both horizontally (across columns) and vertically (across rows). Dropping a card onto an occupied card swaps their positions.
• Corner Drag Resizing (Home & Custom Sections Only): Drag the bottom-right corner handle of a card to snap between supported sizes (Standard cards: 2x1, 2x2, 4x2, 2x4, 4x4; Camera cards: 2x2, 3x2, 4x2, 4x4; Title banners: 2x1 up to 10x1). Built-in system sections (Rooms, Lighting, Climate, Security) lock accessory cards to 2x2.
• Vertical 2x1 Stacking: Drop any card onto an unpaired 2x1 half-height card (or its dashed half-slot) to automatically adapt it to 2x1 and stack them vertically.

• Known vs. Unknown Barcodes (100% Local & Private): Known barcodes are added immediately with a native scanner chime and duplicate check. Unknown first-time barcodes pause the camera and open the top-anchored NEW PRODUCT SCANNED input card so you can name the product once and sync it to your household catalog.
• 0.4s Long-Press Rename: Long-press (0.4s) any item row in the active list or any quick-add suggestion chip to rename the product and permanently re-map its barcode.

6. Smart Badges & Central Hub • Settings → Smart Badges & Notifications
Designating the DashKit Central Hub for 24/7 Push Notifications
DashKit uses a Single Central Hub Architecture so your devices never send duplicate notifications:
• On your always-on wall-mounted iPad or desktop Mac, open Settings → Smart Badges & Notifications → Hub Settings and tap "Set This Device as DashKit Hub".
• Once designated, all other iPhones and iPads automatically act as Client Devices displaying the active Hub's name. The Hub monitors HomeKit 24/7 (even when in Standby, Kiosk Lock, or with its own local notification toggles OFF) and dispatches visible APNs push banners to client devices worldwide—even if DashKit is force-closed on your iPhone.
• To move the Hub role to another device later, tap CHANGE HUB TO THIS DEVICE on the new device (or tap RELINQUISH HUB ROLE on the current Hub).

Under BADGES RULES, tap + to create a rule or tap the Pencil button to reorder badge priority:
• Title, Body & Style: Enter a mandatory Badge Title, optional custom Notification Body Text, 32-swatch palette color, text color, and SF Symbol icon.
• Compound AND / OR Conditions: Tap + in Conditions to pick one or more accessories. Tap a condition card to toggle its trigger state (e.g., TURNS ON vs. TURNS OFF, or set numeric thresholds like RISES ABOVE 26°C for sensors), and use the AND / OR switch to require all conditions or any condition.
• Device-Local Tag & Bell Toggles: New rules sync to all family devices with their local Tag (show in header) and Bell (receive push alert) toggles defaulted to OFF on other devices, so each person chooses which alerts they want.

6. Smart Badges & Central Hub • Universal Low-Battery Radar
Host iPad & HomeKit Peripheral Low-Battery Alerts
Because DashKit hides the iOS status bar in kiosk mode, it monitors both your HomeKit accessories (flagging at ≤ 15%) and the host iPad/iPhone itself (flagging at ≤ 20% when unplugged). A high-priority pulsing red battery icon appears at the far right of the header bar (never hidden inside +X MORE). Tap it to view affected devices and verified replacement battery types (e.g., CR2032, CR123A).

7. Dynamic Appearance & PIN • Settings → Dynamic Appearance
Day & Night Profiles, Physical Brightness & Deferred Switching
All settings under Settings → Dynamic Appearance are 100% device-local:
• Day & Night Profiles: Trigger each profile by a scheduled start time or a single HomeKit accessory state (with single-switch state following) and select its base theme (LIGHT or DARK). If a scheduled time arrives while you are actively touching the screen, DashKit defers the profile switch until the device goes idle.
• Active vs. Standby States: Configure independent hardware screen brightness (UIScreen.main.brightness) and target screens (DO NOT CHANGE, HOME SCREEN, STANDBY CLOCK, or any visible Section).
• Scroll-to-Wake & 0.35s Guard: Wake from Standby by tapping or scrolling anywhere; a 0.35-second grace guard prevents accidental accessory toggles on the waking touch.

• Kiosk Lock Mode: Locks the interface into a pure Standby Clock (hiding bottom status badges and suppressing doorbell camera popups). Activate manually from the Pre-Settings Menu or via schedule/HomeKit switch under Dynamic Appearance.
• Secret Long-Press Header Gateway: When the bottom-right Settings button is hidden (Settings → Device Behavior → Hide Settings Button), press and hold (0.5s) directly on the Home Name or Section Title in the top header card to authenticate and open the Pre-Settings Menu.
